Benefits of Video Marketing
With popular social media sites like Facebook and Instagram adopting video sharing technologies, and grandfather video-based platforms like YouTube and Vimeo, video marketing has never had a wider reach, been more affordable, or gained as much attention.
Reach
Unlike traditional media outlets like magazines and TV commercials which have a limited audience scope (typically regional), video marketing has the potential to expose your company to consumers around the world with little more than the click of a button. Sites like YouTube are visited on a global scale, allowing your marketing efforts to be viewed in every country, 24/7.
Low-Cost
After the initial creation of a video, marketing your video content can be completely free. Simply upload the video to your company’s site and social media pages, and you’re done! An added advantage is the ability to share your videos over and over again, making them a long-term investment with the potential for high ROI.
Results
From the statistics mentioned earlier, you can see that the benefits of video marketing are not only obvious, but measurable. Videos are effective in grabbing the attention of potential customers, bringing them back to your site, and closing the sale, all without taking time away from your sales and customer service departments.
Types of Videos
Videos serve a number of purposes, the most common of which are to entertain, inform, or educate. Which type of video you choose will depend on your company’s particular goals for that video.
Product Demos
Demonstrating how your product is used can help to give potential customers more confidence when it comes time to making their purchase. These types of videos are great for companies with complex or unusual offerings, and those companies with many competitors. Product demos can also help to cut down on returns and complaints because the customers’ expectations should be set and met based on the video content.
Training Videos
Training videos are an excellent way for companies to retain and share valuable knowledge about internal processes or company standards. These types of videos can also help lessen future training costs by eliminating the need for another employee to take time away from performing their own work in order to execute the training. Training videos are popular when the subject matter is fairly simple.
Company Culture Videos
Company culture videos help to put a face to a company, making it easier for potential and current customers to feel a connection with them. Company culture videos are an excellent resource for companies that position themselves as ethically or environmentally focused. Corporate culture videos can also help to address bad publicity and customer concerns—BP oil spill anyone?
How-To Videos
Many companies may think that creating and sharing how-to videos can give away trade secrets and decrease business. However, when done correctly, how-to videos can be a great way to start a relationship with potential customers. The key to creating effective how-to videos are to choose a minor task that is often performed by consumers rather than professionals. For instance, creating a video outlining how to unclog a toilet can drive traffic to your site, build trust between the searcher and your company, and cause your business to be top of mind when a serious issue occurs.
Customer Testimonials
Customer testimonials are perhaps one of the most effective types of videos. Just as with written customer reviews, testimonial videos help potential customers feel like they’re getting an unbiased opinion of a company and their offerings. In order to make the filming process run more smoothly, give the customers providing testimonials a list of questions you plan on asking them the day of the shoot a few days before filming. This will help them feel more relaxed and appear more comfortable.
Vlogs
A video blog, or vlog, is a form of content marketing for which the medium is video. Vlog posts typically combine embedded video (a video link) with supporting text, images, and metadata. Vlogs are especially good for increasing a company’s SEO because they can be linked to social media pages that will take a viewer back to your website. Vlogs should focus on entertaining consumers in an effort to encourage engagement and follows.
Video Styles
Live Action
Live action videos require a more complex production process than motion graphics videos. In addition to requiring the use of video equipment like lights, cameras, and microphones, these videos typically involve a live subject matter like actors, employees, or customers, as well as a production team.
Motion Graphics
Using motion graphics is a great way to inform potential customers about your company, especially for those that specialize in large-scale scopes of work. Motion graphics videos typically display animated objects that give the appearance of movement. The production process is easier for motion graphics, because they can be created by a skilled graphic designer using photo and video editing programs.
The Video Production Process
Pre-Production
At Green Group Studio, we begin the video production process with a kickoff meeting between our video producer and the client. In this meeting, we discuss the client’s objectives, timelines, budget, where the filming will take place (if a live action video is requested), and any equipment or talent needs. If the client is interested in filming multiple videos in one day, we create a schedule to optimize the production time.
Production
For live action videos, our video producer will meet you on the scheduled day at the pre-determined location and time, along with any talent or props requested. We will then capture all of the shots discussed on the day of the kickoff meeting. For motion graphics videos, our team of designers and web professionals will create the animation from scratch or purchase stock animation.
Post-Production
At the end of the day, none of the types of videos previously mentioned are effective if post-production isn’t taken care of properly. When editing videos, our team will determine which shots are the best and combine them into a seamless video. We’ll also apply any voiceovers, soundtracks, effects, etc. After the editing process is complete, we’ll send the video to the clients and make any requested changes. Once the client is happy with the video, we’ll send it to them in whatever HD format they’d like.
Video Marketing & SEO
Videos are a great way to increase a company’s search engine rankings. However, there a many tricks that can help you push your rankings even higher that most companies aren’t even aware of! Always make sure that you include a call to action on your video, whether it’s to subscribe, like, or visit. Videos should also be saved with a file name containing the keywords your company would like to be found under, and YouTube videos should also have a captions file that contains the written script. At Green Group Studio, we also offer video SEO services to our clients to help improve their video performance.
