Stream Details: Fished Smaller Stream on NC side of Park

Weather: Cloudy, sporadic light rain

Water Condidtions:  Good flow for September, clear despite the rain.

 

The fishing started off slow.  We soon realized that we were fishing behind someone else.  We pulled out of the creek and hiked up another mile or so.  The fishing continued slow with very little action on top.  I tried several dry fly patterns including #16 parachute.  Ended up catching a few small bows and browns and the fishing began t o pick up.  I missed a nice size brown on a dry and switched to a Pink SJ.  At this point I started pulling fish out of just about every hole once we switched to sub surface flies.  The average size was decent but started getting smaller the higher up we got.  Fished shortly on the lower section after hiking back towards the car, caught a few nice size fish averaging 8 inches.

Emily did well, landed three fish including a nice brown.
